Thirty Hours of Chess
Campers are divided into six groups: White & Black Kings (advanced), White & Black Queens (Intermediate) and White & Black Knights (beginner). Each level participates in a Socratic learning forum, dubbed “The Evans Method” by the United States Chess Federation. Designed to stimulate excitement and fun in the learning process. The Evans Method has produced national champions at every scholastic level and is used in over seventy schools throughout Southern California..
Fabiano Caruana, the second highest ranked player in the world and a world championship contender, was also a repeat camper during his formative years.

Campers learn with peers in an exciting, cumulative merit system that rewards participation. Practice joins theory with a (new this year!) USCF Rated Chess Tournament, a speed tournament, a simultaneous exhibition and a bughouse tournament. The Mate Race, a chess problem solving relay event, rounds out the schedule of activities.
Every camper gets prizes and a trophy!
